Grape Seed
The seeds of the wine grape are used to make grape seed, which is a health dietary supplement. This nutritional supplement is most widely known as grape seed extract. Grape seeds are dried and pulverized into a concentrated extract that includes rich nutrients and is available in tablet, pill, and liquid form after being pressed to remove the oil.
Grape seed extract is made from the seeds of Vitis vinifera, the wild grape from which most wine grapes are derived. Although this species is native to the Mediterranean, central Europe, and southwestern Asia near the Caspian Sea, its usage in winemaking and medicine began there and spread westward. Antioxidants exist in grape seed extract. Grape seed extract contains antioxidants that are 10 to 20 times stronger than those found in fruits and vegetables. Proanthocyanidins are present in the extract. The concentration of procyanidins, which are generated from proanthocyanidins, is used to determine the quality of grape seed extract. Grape seed extract contains 95 percent procyanidins on average, however potency varies by product. When you consume foods or beverages high in procyanidin, your mouth puckers and you become dehydrated, which is similar to how you feel after drinking alcoholic beverages.
