Rosa mosqueta, sweetbriar or Chilean wild rosehip, belongs to the wild rose family which numbers over 100 species. It inhabits the wild slopes of the Andes, and is another proof of how something most beautiful can flourish even in the harshest of conditions. In addition to its beauty, this plant has many useful properties. In Chile, it has been used for centuries for skin care and treatment and is known as the “fruit of eternal youth”, precisely because it has an extraordinary power to heal and regenerate the skin.
And why is it Chilean? Although the rose grows all over the world, the one that grows in Chile is considered to be of the highest quality. This plant has taken root around the Andes mountain range, and it is in Chile that its medicinal value has been recognised and the plant is harvested there en masse and made into cold-pressed oil. Rosa mosqueta makes up a large part of Chilean agriculture and industry and its oil is exported worldwide. According to numerous studies done in Latin America, this oil has an exceptional composition and very healing properties. Chilean rose, i.e. its fruit – rosehip – is a strong antioxidant, it protects the body from diseases, helps it fight infections, strengthens the immune system, improves digestion, has a laxative and diuretic effect. Thanks to it, the tired, exhausted body regains strength.
